Pairs
A memory game: flip cards two at a time, find matching photos, and clear the table.
How to play
Tap a card to flip it. On a keyboard, choose with the arrows and flip with Space or Enter. P or Esc pauses. Two different cards stay up for 0.6 s and turn back; tap the next card and they turn back at once.
Rules and score
Two of the same photo are a pair: you keep them and score 1. Clear the table and each pair scores again; then the next table comes. Tables grow from 3×4 to 4×4, 4×5, 4×6 and 5×6. There are 18 photos in six color tones, so photos of the same tone look alike. The lamp starts with 45 seconds and keeps fading. Each pair brings back 1 s, a cleared table 10 s (less for later tables, down to 3 s), up to 60 s. Lamp out — game over.
Tips
- Open cards row by row from one side; places are easier to remember.
- If your first card is a photo you've seen, open its partner right away.
- For photos of the same tone, remember the shape as well as the color.
- Every pair brings light back, so take a pair you know now.
FAQ
- Are the cards placed in advance?
- No. A card's photo is set the moment you first flip it, so nobody can know it ahead, and opening every card always gives every pair.
- Is there a time limit?
- Besides the lamp, a game is at most 10 minutes.
