2048
A number puzzle on a 4×4 board: merge equal tiles until you make 2048.
How to play
Press an arrow key, or swipe or drag on the board. Every tile slides as far as it can. Two tiles with the same number merge into one with double the value. After each move a new tile appears in an empty cell: usually a 2, about one time in ten a 4. The circular arrow at the top starts a new game.
Rules and score
Each merge adds the new tile's value to your score (two 8s make 16, +16). You can keep playing after 2048. The game ends when the board is full and no move can merge anything.
Tips
- Keep your biggest tile in one corner and never move it out.
- Use two directions most of the time, a third now and then. The fourth pulls the big tile out of its corner.
- Line up the row next to the big tile in order of size so one move merges them in a chain.
- Before each move, think where the new tile can land so small tiles don't get stuck between big ones.
FAQ
- Is there an undo?
- No. Thinking one move ahead is the game.
- How is my ranking score checked?
- When the game ends, the server replays your moves and only a matching score goes on the ranking.
